In japanese comics "tori-pan" means birds and breads, many time Azure-winged Magpie is drawn as gentlemen and the character always spends time with a lot of other individuals. I don't know whether actual Azure-winged Magpies are gentleman, but it is truth that Azure-winged Magpies are living in flock. Also this species loose colonial breeders, omnivorous and select many types of habitats. The day I observed, they used pine forest. In breeding season, it is rare they use pine forest unless using it as nest site.
They always call each other. Fortunately I could observe the foraging from not far place from a Magpie. Environmental response of this species is variable so it is interesting to see it. There are few number in Hitach of North Ibaraki that my home town, and many Magpies are observed in Chiba so now I feel happy.
Maybe foraged a seed of pine, but this Magpie didn't hold the seed with the bill for a long time, so I couldn't judge what kind of material that it foraged. And I couldn't judge from other individual also.
